Allergy & Dermatology

Our team is trained and experienced in identifying, diagnosing and treating a broad range of dermatological problems, from nose to toes.  We can get to the bottom of your pet’s discomfort and address it with an integrative approach.

Some of the skin problems we can provide assistance with include, but are not limited to:

  • Allergies
  • Infections
  • Parasites
  • Hormonal Disorders
  • Diseases of the Skin, Ears or Feet
  • Immune Disorders
  • Chronic Ear Infections
  • Tumors
  • Skin Cancer
  • More…

We use a variety of diagnostic tools to help pinpoint the underlying cause of your pet’s skin problems, including skin scrapings, laboratory tests and biopsies. Once we’ve determined exactly what condition is afflicting your pet, we’ll get to work developing a customized treatment plan, which may include the use of topical creams, oral medication, supplements, food therapy and nutritional counselling.

If it is determined that your pet is suffering from allergies, we’ll work diligently to identify those things that are most likely to trigger an allergic reaction and come up with a plan to eliminate those irritants from your pet’s environment. In some cases, we may recommend making some simple changes at home, such as changing your pet’s food or removing certain household items which may be triggering your pet’s allergies. In situations like this, we are often able to reduce or eliminate symptoms without the need for further medical intervention.

Some of the common signs and symptoms of a dermatological problem include:

  • Excessive scratching or chewing
  • Excessive licking or biting at the affected area
  • Frequent shaking of the head
  • Hotspots
  • Hair loss / bald spots
  • Inflamed, itchy or painful ears
  • Unpleasant odor from the skin or ears
  • Flaky skin / dandruff
  • Skin lesions
  • Rashes or scabbing
  • Excessively runny eyes or nose
  • Unusual lumps or bumps

If you’ve noticed your pet exhibiting any of these symptoms, it’s time to schedule a dermatological evaluation. We can help your animal friend live a more comfortable life.
